Gary!
....................... I did get the Dynamount together for my 13x16, and good lord what an amazing tone. I've used your mounts since the 80's, but never on floor toms. What knocked me out was how DEEP of a pitch the tom could sustain. Unreal! I'm working with the Beat Daddys (Blues band on Malaco Records) and have been needing more "throat" for floor tom-driven beats. This product far exceeds what I had expected. The big surprise was the side-by-side comparison between my Pearl Optimount 12" rack, and the dynamount floor. The rack tom sounds like a Pringles can...no, a duct taped Pringles can. Additionally, while mixing our upcoming live c.d., the engineer just couldn't get signal out of my Gretsch floor tom, but the RIMS mounted rack was huge. So within a week's time, your products have duked it out with rival systems on two of my drum kits. I had always assumed that the Optimount system was just as good. Too bad it took me so long to see the light...............................

.... I'm ordering a 12" rims mount today. I am anxious to try this kit out in the studio now!
Thanks again Gary for making such remarkable products.

(continued, a few weeks later for RIMS® Alloy "rack" mounted)

I've been using RIMS on my 12" rack tom for the last few weeks. What a remarkable difference. It's amazing how much more sustain is gained by this newer design. Furthermore, the drum sustains better in the low frequencies, which adapts the kit better to the style of music I'm playing

Gary,

Just a quick note to let you know that I just finished mounting my new 14", 16" and 18" RIMS Dynamounts (that arrived this morning after very swift shipping) to some Sonor Designer "rack" toms that have only ever hung from a stand before today. They now sit on the floor with DW brackets and legs (no drilling necessary!), and without even going to any special effort to fine tune the heads, these drums sound and feel better than ever - I've not heard such fullness of tonal projection emanate from them before this - and I'm even using old heads!

Thanks so much for doing business with me, and I look forward to dealing with you again in the future. I found your service and communication to be excellent - not to mention the product! Thanks again!

Warm regards,

(continued on using the DynaMount a few weeks later)

Thought you might like to see a picture of my 14" x 12" tom on it's first studio date since "coming down to Earth" with the DynaMount FTS. It was for the sound track of an animated short film here in Sydney at Studios 301 about a month ago. I can't even begin to tell you how great it sounded, nor of how great it feels to play, except to say that I'm still in amazement by virtue of the sheer joy of it all!

Thanks once again,

Hi Gary:

........ now that I've lived with the new RIMS a bit longer, a few more observations have come up. I'm coming to the conclusion that the longer sustain on the drums I've mounted these on is not my imagination. The other thing I've noticed is that you really need to "even out" the tuning of the drum that has this new mount. The new RIMS® really seem to bring out the fullest possible sound, maybe the "truest" sound of each drum. It's pretty amazing that changing the mounting point system from four to three and going to the lighter alloy would do all this, but it looks like your research and engineering has paid off. I hope these turn out to be a great success for you and your company.

Sincerely,

Hi Gary:

Well, I finally had a good gig to wring out one set...................... Well, the gig was a big band gig and I have to say that the 12" Gretsch mounted tom never sounded better. It was the traditional Gretsch sound, but bigger and fuller. The RIMS mount also got rid of the vibrating shake that the drum had with the "cheap" Gretsch copy of your old mount. It was very steady, yet allowed the drum to open up and deliver. As I mentioned earlier, since there isn't any load on one part of the shell, you really have to make sure the heads are tuned evenly, but boy, it sure pays off! The big band was performing in a very Basie-oriented style and it was a pleasure to lay into the drums and do some of those "around-the-drums" big band fills. If all I had were sets that were set up for jazz playing, I'd definitely put these new alloy RIMS on every set...................

Paul (Yonemura)

Gary,

Replaced the old 14? RIMS® mount with the alloy for a gig a couple of days ago. Big difference!

Looking forward to trying the floor tom version.

I have owned these drums since purchasing new in 1986. The toms have never sounded so good!

Nice product folks !!!

This product has to be the best ever for the drumming world. I have your Lockerz on my 67 superphonic and love them. I had picked them up at Guitar Center and need more for other drums. They don't stock them anymore, and have replaced them with some cheap crap. I was wondering if you had any retail outlets selling the Lockerz around the greater Cleveland, Ohio area.

Thanks,

Ross Cintula

All I can say is "WOW!!!!". These new RIMS opened up my Bearing Edge drums so much that I couldn't believe it at first. They do exactly what they are intended to do---make great drums sound awesome. I can't say enough about Gary Gauger and his new RIMS® mounts---They speak enough for themselves!!!!!!

A new fan.

Hi Gary,

I've now purchased a DynaMount for my 15"x13" Yamaha MCA Nouveau rack tom (I was tired of having a mounting stand!). I must say (being a true believer in the philosophy of the RIMS) that your system has given my tom "sound so that the jeans are blowing in the wind". All though it took "some" time assembling the rim, it certainly was worth the effort, ha, ha. Yamaha do indeed make fantastic drums, but their mounting (YESS) doesn't work. I think it's sad that I have to buy a suspension system elsewhere to get the most out of their drums. Maybe Yamaha should try your "test", and tune a tom off of the mount, and then put it back on "blurhh". Well, I just wanted to let you know of a satisfied customer from Denmark.

Thanks, for the great product.

Gary:

I just wanted to write to thank you for the fine product you market and the services your organization provided. As you will recall, I had a problem getting the leg brackets from my Premier floor tom to fit through the slots in the RIMS leg brackets and you took care of that for me. It works perfectly. The drums sound great. I was doubtful that the floor tom system would improve the resonance, but the RIMS system has significantly improved the tone and sustain of the floor tom. Even on a carpeted floor. Clearly, your RIMS system has made more of a musical instrument out of my drum set. I am now a fan of resonance isolation and will recommend your product at every opportunity.

Hello,

Just a quick email to let you know that I am very pleased with my new Rims. They look and sound fantastic. I can't believe how light they are and still feel solid when played. They have outperformed all other systems I have tried . My Luddys never sounded this pure and good before. I also have a DW Collectors set 95 vintage that I am fond of and I am actually getting a better sustain out of my Luddys now. It is obvious that a lot of engineering and time went into these Rims. Just for jollies I tried 4 grommets instead of 3 on the 10? and 12? inch toms. Just as you stated, it reduced the resonance a small amount. I took the extra ones back off and could not believe the difference. Its funny because the 13 inch tom with the 4 mounts you recommend sound fine with full resonance. You guys have done your homework and have a superior product.

I can't believe everyone doesn't use them.(Is the word not getting out)

Thanks so much!
Yours Truly,

Steve Kesler

Mr. Gauger,

I just wanted to let you know that I have all my RIMS mounts assembled and ready to go. I must say they are by far the classiest-looking drum mounts I've ever seen! I love the way the half-plate works with the DW bracket. Also, the way the matte aluminum finish works with the chrome: SWEET. Anyway, I just wanted to convey my absolute satisfaction in your product and show you what I did.

Gary,

I want to let you know that as much as I've enjoyed the great sound of my maple Peavey drums - they're even better now! Recently, I decided that I wanted to use my 14" mounted tom as a floor tom and there was no way regular drum hardware could be used with the ultra-thin Peavey drum shell.

Thankfully, you and your "DynaMount Floor Tom Suspension System" made it all possible. Your advice in working with the unique radial-bridge design of my drum and the ingenious design of your own product have made the tom sound fantastic. I didn't think that the drum could produce an even more beautiful bottom tone than before, but it does. And couple that with the use of your simple but incredibly effective Lockerz, you've made my drumming even more enjoyable!

For some reason, my toms just refused to stay in tune throughout a gig and it was frustrating for me to make needed adjustments on the fly. You suggested the Lockerz, so I put them on all the top tension rods of my toms and the result is remarkable. I have now played these drums everyday for over 4 weeks and the drums have remained in perfect pitch - no tuning adjustments required! In fact, with the great new sound of my floor tom, I can achieve a beautiful 4 note chord from my 3 toms and base drum and that's a new experience for me.

All in all, it's just made my playing even more musical and I thank you for all your help and your great products! I've owned a lot of pretty cool drums over my 30+ years of playing, but the next kit I buy will be fully equipped with your system all the way around. Thanks again, Gary.

I would like to commend you on a great product. I had the opportunity to meet Gary at the NAMM show in Anaheim back in the mid-80s. I was running a small drum shop in San Diego at the time. I thought his idea was the best thing to happen to drums probably ever. Although our shop owner chose not sell the product, I recommended it every chance I got. The new design and engineering are amazing! I look forward to many enjoyable years with the new stuff!!

Thanks again,

I recently played a show and using a custom maple bop kit. My 7x12 tom had no mount, so I placed it on an extra snare stand. The drum was tuned perfectly as I held it by the rim and struck the head. After placing it on the snare stand.........something drastically changed with the sound. The drum was sounding choked. There was barely any resonance coming from the drum. I would remove the drum from the stand and hold it by the rim again. As I struck the drum again, I soon realized I needed some type of tom mount to solve this choking problem. After careful research, I kept coming back to Gauger Percussion Rims as my first choice. Everything on the website made total sense. I ordered a Gauger Rim for my 12" tom. The installation went smoothly and I couldn't wait to tune the drum and strike it. I mounted the drum with the Gauger Rim on a stand. Now get ready for Gauger's Best Kept Secret . . . When I struck the drum. I couldn't believe my ears. The drum actually had more resonance then when I held it by the rim and struck it. How could this be? It is simple. Gary Gauger has obviously spent countless hours perfecting this product. Thanks Gary for designing the best rim mount system out there. Lightweight, looks great, sounds amazing!

Gary,

3 words Gary, that's all I have to say.! It took me about 45 minutes to put both 14" and 16" Dyna Mounts together, pretty simple if you follow your directions on the instruction sheet. At first I was getting a buzzing sound out of my 14" rim, but then realized I didn't tighten the 4 bolts that hold the rim together. I also needed to fine tune the lug connectors with the springs as well. The 16" came perfect first time though. But, after I played it for a while I started to hear a slight buzz on it too. Once again, I just re-adjusted a couple bolts and screws and ta da! The resonance is just incredible on them too. I never heard my 16" floor tom sound better, and the 14" sounds huge.

Thanks again for all your help, I have never had the owner of a drum company come to my house and deliver in person! Keep up the great workmanship on a great evolution for making drums sound their absolute best! Still need to see where you manufacture these!

Take care,

Dear Adam,

Thanks very much for sending the 18? floor tom DynaMount- its absolutely brilliant ! and I?m getting to know how to fine tune the mounting system...my floor tom now sounds really good!! Thanks again and if you ever need an endorser I?ll be the first volunteer.........

All the best,

Great! Thank you very much. Because of RIMS®, my toms sound better than ever. I can?t thank you enough for such a great product. In my opinion, RIMS® is the best drum-related invention ever. I'll recommend them to anyone who's interested.

Thanks and take care.

Gary ,

Those big drum companies , some now dead and buried , others bought out by Asia , some owned by Asia , never "listened" to you at all , but waited until the mood of the public condemned their lack of a suspension system , (RIMS®) , then they adopted their own systems , which they all keep changing because they don't really "understand " much about drums at all !!! I just wish.............. we could get the product we deserve !!!

Yes,

You can use any of it you want and you can also use my name or email as a reference if needed. It is really nice to have a product that does what it claims. I am not an easy person to empress, but I am impressed. I am sure your business will continue to grow not only because of your outstanding product but also because of your Customer Support. That seems to be a dying art these days.

Thanks Again,

Hello from Ireland

Just came across you via Google and thought I'd email to say that I think you should produce the RIMS kits again. They are wonderful (and I've both the mark (model) 1 & 2) and they still turn heads and sound great. When I play some quiet acoustic gigs in small Irish pubs, I use the Remo Laptop snare to fit into a really small space and parts of the Headset kit (eg bass drum) and it knocks the crowd dead. On second thoughts, maybe you shouldn't re-introduce the kit, seeing how I enjoy the attention so much!

Good luck (as they say in West Cork),

Dave Jones

Mr. Gauger,

I hope you get to read this. I have sent messages to you in the past regarding your innovative products and am doing so again! For about 17 yrs I have been using RIMS mounts on all my kits, vintage and others but always came back to the original RIMS! In my eyes, they are truly the most innovative piece of gear invented in the drumming community over the last 25 years! They have notably changed the sound of the drum to bring it to it's fullest......! The RIMS Set, all the way up to the NE kit was a unique invention as well. I know that 'Flat Jacks' had been out and Roto Toms but your kit took portability and sound to another level. I have owned all 3 kits, HeadSet, HS w/PTS, Pinstripes and NE Series, each was a step up in portable sound and quality.I currently use a 12 & 16 NE toms w/ a regular kick as a rehearsal kit and have used it out of doors mic'd up and sounding great. I hope to find an NE bass (drum) someday. Hope to use your Lockerz one of these days.

Anyway, thank you again, glad you have had much success! I wish I'd thunk of it!! LOL!

I just wanted to send a quick email of thanks regarding your product. I currently play a Pearl Session Custom (SRX) which utilizes the 6 ply maple shell. I have tried for years to configure the Optimount system on this kit to no avail.† Literally dozens of hours tweaking that produced minute improvements. I finally ordered a set of RIMS for my 7 piece kit, and after installing, configuring and re-tuning, the RIMS system DRASTICALLY improved the overall sound of my kit.

My kit sounds like a totally different kit and the toms sing out like never before. Dramatically improved sustain, resonance and overall body and clarity of sound. I am now FINALLY hearing 100% of the shell. Also, after tuning, the toms are producing much more low end and midrange, and are sounding 'full spectrum' and fully open for the first time. Virtually ZERO over ring as well. In short, my kit now sounds like a high end maple kit should.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting the RIMS system to anyone playing one of Pearl's 6 ply maple or birch shells.
