The Two Minute RIMS® Test:
- Remove your drum from its stand or support and tune it. Be sure to tune it off the stand.
- Hold the drum in the air by the hoop so its weight is hanging from two fingers. Strike the drum repeatedly and listen to the sound.
- Place the drum back on its stand or support and strike the drum again.
- Does the drum sound less resonant when mounted on the stand? If so, the mounting hardware is affecting the drum's ability to vibrate, and one of our isolation mounts can help maximize your drum's resonance.
- To learn more, check out our R.I.M.S.® Product Page, or check out our Video Series. This test can also be performed with toms mounted in snare stands and floor toms, and we provide isolation mounting systems for both.
